The Milford volleyball team battled hard but could not find a win in its opening week. The Eagles lost to Seward 25-9, 25-15, 25-21 Aug. 24 and then lost to Gothenburg and Broken Bow in the Bill Marshall Classic at Grand Island Aug. 26.

“We are not satisfied with where we are currently, but we found a lot out about our team through our first three matches,” Coach Emily Restau said. “The teams that we played were tough and that is only going to make us better. We are dealing with some injuries currently, but are hoping to be able to piece things back together soon.”

In the loss to Seward, Sydney Burkey, Hannah Reynolds and Sarah Reynolds had three kills each.

Against Gothenburg, Raeleigh Kremer notched three kills.

The Eagles hosted Fairbury Aug. 29 and won 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22. Their next match is Tuesday, Sept. 5, at home against Fillmore Central. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
