Hastings resident Donna Jean Sears, 63, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.
Services were May 12, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings, with the Rev. Marcus J. Mackay and the Rev. Benjamin Siebert officiating. Burial was at Our Redeemer Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery in Staplehurst with the Revs. Marcus J. Mackay, Benjamin Siebert and Andrew Kannell officiating.

Donna was born on Aug. 28, 1950, in Seward, to Ernest and Dorothea (Barghahn) Fritz. She was confirmed in 1963 at Our Redeemer Church. Donna graduated from Seward High School in 1968 and Central Community College in 1996 where she held a 4.0 GPA, was on Dean’s List and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Donna was employed by Hastings Irrigation and Pipe Company where she did accounts payable.
Donna was united in marriage to Donald Sears. They were married on May 2, 1970, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Staplehurst. To this union three daughters were born: Shawn, Cindy and April. Of these three children four grandchildren were born: Zachary Fergus, Samantha Fergus, Macoy Fergus and Cole Cramer; of these grandchildren two great-grandchildren were born: Riley Ray Sears and Abbygail Renae Fergus.
Donna was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Fritz, and sister, Margaret (Fritz) Colley.
Survivors include: her husband Donald Sears, Hastings; mother Dorothea (Barghahn) Fritz, Seward, children and spouse, Shawn Sears, Lincoln, Cindy Sears, Hastings, and April and Erik Cramer, Lincoln; grandchildren, Zachary Fergus, Samantha Fergus, Macoy Fergus and Cole Cramer; great-grandchildren Riley Ray Sears and Abbygael Renae Fergus; close friends Jan Fern, Stephanie Cleveland and Toni Patrick; siblings and spouses Roger Fritz, Dean and Bonnie Fritz, Gale and Rose Fritz, Bill and Roz Fritz and Sandra (Fritz) and Dennis Patchin.
