Donald Robert Brandt, a former Seward County resident, was born March 19, 1931, to the late August and Matilda (Gade) Brandt, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2025.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a strong, loving family rooted in devotion and togetherness.
He was the cherished father of Karen (Roger) Lattrel, Patricia (the late David) Smith, and Judith (Alan) Kiraly. Donald took great pride in his grandchildren – Kristin Lattrel, Ryan Lattrel, Kate (Jamie) Murray, Kelly Smith, MacKenzie Smith (Adam Pokowski), Christopher Kiraly, and Amanda Kiraly – and delighted in his great-grandson, Nico Murray. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by seven siblings, each of whom he held dear throughout his life.
A man of many passions, Donald was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic fisherman, and someone who enjoyed the simple pleasure of bowling. He and Marlene loved to travel, creating countless memories near and far. Donald also enjoyed time spent with friends through the Elks, where he was a proud member of a pool league.
A dedicated professional, he owned and operated his own tax practice for many years, serving his clients with integrity and care. At home, he found joy in reading and challenging himself with crossword puzzles, hobbies that reflected his thoughtful and inquisitive nature.
Donald will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the steadfast love he shared with his family and friends.
