Dennis E. Niemann, 69, Marshall, Mich., formerly of Seward, died Oct. 18, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Niemann was born on June 8, 1943, in Seward, to Erwin “Tuffy” and Florence (Gieselman) Niemann.

He graduated from Seward High School in 1961.

On Nov. 30, 1963, he married Judith “Judy” A. Roebke in Staplehurst.

Mr. Niemann was a maintenance engineer for Tenneco Automotive in Seward before moving to Marshall, Mich., to start-up the new facility there.

In 1990, he began working for Eagle Technologies in Jackson, Mich., and he later started D.E. Niemann Machine Services in Marshall, Mich.

While living in Staplehurst, the Niemanns ran the Phillips 66 Station.

Mr. Niemann also was a member of the Staplehurst Volunteer Fire Department and was a training instructor for emergency responders.

He enjoyed working on electrical projects and taught himself how to fix televisions and radios; camping, fishing, watching NASCAR and watching sports on TV, especially University of Nebraska and Michigan football.

Mr. Niemann was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son Matthew.

Survivors include his children and spouses Michelle and Brian Smurr, Marshall, Mich., Michael and Kristi Niemann, Columbus, and Mark and Michelle Niemann, Marshall, Mich.; six grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stanley and Jenny Roebke; a niece and nephew.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 26, 2012, at Greenwood Cemetery, Seward with the Rev. Andrew Ratcliffe officiating.

Visitation with the Niemann family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Volzke Funeral Home, Seward.

Memorials may be made to Calhoun County Relay for Life or Oaklawn Hospice in care of Volzke Funeral Home.
