Dennis “Denny” or “Pickles” D. Hartman, of Seward, was born July 11, 1940, to Martin and Ida (Bredow) Hartman in Lincoln.

He attended school at Seward High School, graduating in 1958. Denny was united in marriage to Mary Hargrove-Hicks on June 24, 1961,m at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Denny farmed his entire life, running Hartman Farms with his sons. He co-owned DenMar Equipment in Seward. He also sold York Chief Buildings and was a DeKalb seed corn dealer. Denny enjoyed his life on the farm, which included daily golf cart tours and feeding the fish at the pond. He spent a lot of time with his friends at Sparetime for coffee and breakfast. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Denny passed away May 26, 2021, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 15 days.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hartman, Seward; sons, Jay (Brenda) Hartman, Seward, Todd (Julie) Hartman, Seward, Justin (Cory) Hartman, Seward; grandchildren, Drew (Amber) Wieseman, Jared Hartman, Colton Hartman, Carley Hartman, Michael Hartman, Grant Hartman, Braden Hartman, Tarryn Hartman, Paxton Hartman; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Kaysen and Tripp Wieseman; and extended family and friends. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ida Hartman, and mother-in-law, Louise Cross.

A funeral service was Wednesday, June 2, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with interment at the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church or the Tamora and Utica volunteer fire departments. Condolences may be left for the family at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
