Della J. (Everts) Hartmann was born June 16, 1928, to Reinhard and Etta Anna-Marie (Baumann) Everts in Grafton.

Della attended Sutton High School, graduating in 1944. On June 22, 1952, Della was united in marriage to Donald Hartmann in Grafton. Della taught grade school at country schools for five years. She attended Concordia College in Seward, where she met her future husband. She then received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She then taught for Lutheran schools for 25 years. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. She was a part of Stephen’s Ministry at St. John Lutheran Church and was a quilter at St. John. She was a member of Friendship Force of Lincoln, Red Hats Society and was a hospice volunteer. She was a cancer survivor. Della passed away Feb. 7, 2024, in Seward.

She is survived by her children, Gayle (Milt) Bayer of Lincoln, Steven (Kathy) Hartmann of Seward, David Hartmann of Lincoln, Lori Uden of Hastings and Lonna (Roger) Richters of Utica; grandchildren, Tim (Christine) Hartmann of Germany, Ben Hartmann of Seward, Khristina (Jason) Hindmand of Lincoln, Taylor Richters of Berkeley, California, Ryan Richters of Utica and Jacob Uden (Jaci Anderson) of Hastings; great-grandchildren, Holly Venetis, Caleb Venetis, Caric Hindmand, Landon Hindmand and Jamison Uden; siblings, Viola Hartmann of Minden, and Warren (Ladonna) Everts of McCook; and sisters-in-law, Doris Hartmann of Seward, Arlys Hartmann of Wamego, Kansas, and Ardath Hartmann of Seward.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard and Etta Anna-Marie Everts; husband, Donald Hartmann; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Helen Everts, and Dale and Maxine Everts; infant sister, Esther Everts; son-in-law, Loren Uden; brothers-in-law, Dick Hartmann, Bill Hartmann, Jim Hartmann and Walt Hartmann; and sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Emil) Lampe, Marj (Dan) Heibel and Dorothy M. Hill.

Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 5 – 8:30 p.m. at Volzke Funeral Home in Seward with a gathering of family and friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with a private committal in the Seward Cemetery.
