A new housing development will add 10 lots to the City of Seward, west of the Seward Community Golf Course.

During the Seward City Council’s June 19 meeting, the board approved the addition—Country Club Heights Fourth Addition. It will extend Augusta Drive north and end in a cul-de-sac.

The council considered the addition’s preliminary plat at its April 17 meeting, where it had concerns about drainage calculations for the development.

Those were included in the final plat June 19. Troy Johnston of JEO Consulting, the design firm for the development, said the developer modified plans as requested by the city.

The addition also includes plans for a road that would extend west for future development.

Ed Gonzalez, the city’s building/zoning and code enforcement director, said Mel Aldrich, the street/transportation superintendent, wanted to see Augusta Drive extend north for future development. The area west of the development is in a flood plain.

During the April 17 meeting, Johnston said the plan is to build a row of lots on the road to the west of Country Club Heights Fourth Addition, then turn the road north and out of the floodplain.

Gonzalez also said the developer, Steve Conner, is donating an outlot to the city that is roughly 1,300 square feet.

The council approved the development’s final plat, as well as its subdivision agreement and compliance agreement.
