April is Autism Awareness Month, and students celebrated Autism Awareness Day April 6 in Molly Pracheil's second grade classroom at Centennial Public School.

The class created a 126-piece puzzle to celebrate their friend with autism, teacher Molly Pracheil said.

They also created a hand written book where each student described what they love most about their friend.

On Thursday, the class began the celebration with making sensory bottles. They listened to a read aloud called Autism Is...? by Ymkje Wideman-Van Der Laan. They then went on an autism walk to educate adults in the building about autism and handed them each a paper telling them that April 2 is Autism Awareness Day.

To end the celebration, Sharon Powell come to the classroom to teach the students more about their friend with autism and what autism means. She brought each student a special treat to thank them for all the love they give their friend with autism.
