Carol Sue Bender was born Sept. 22, 1961, to Duane and Betty (Luebbe) Bender in Seward.
She attended Crete High School, graduating in 1979. Following high school, Carol attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1986 with her degree in Business Administration. She worked at Ameritas as an auditor of dental claims for 39 years. Carol was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church and was on the Parish ED Board for four years. In her free time, she enjoyed genealogy, NASCAR, quilting and reading. Carol passed away May 23, 2023, in Seward, at the age of 61.
She is survived by her parents, Duane and Betty Bender of Seward; siblings, Nancy Harms of Kearney, Nebraska, Sandra Bender of Omaha, and Tommy (Cathy) Bender of Lincoln; nieces and nephews, Eric (Averie) Harms, John (Eva) Harms, Kirk Harms, Jessica Harms, Luke (Julia) Bender, Natalie Bender, Nicholas Bender; and great-nieces, Eden and Andie Harms. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
The funeral service is Wednesday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m. at living Word Lutheran Church in Seward with committal in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested in care of the Bender family. Arrangements by Volzke Funeral Home.
