Burton D. Hoffschneider, age 86 of Utica, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, in York. He was born Jan. 10, 1936, to Erich and Irma Emma (Bulgrin) Hoffschneider in York. On Jan. 16, 1955, he was united in marriage to Joan Blum at St John’s Lutheran Church in Waco.

Burton was a long-time member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and Lutheran Laymen’s League and served as Zone 6 chairman. He proudly served our country in the United State Naval Reserves active duty and was a member of the Utica American Legion. He was on the Centennial Board of Education for 16 years, the Waco Co-op board for many years, held church offices and was on the Centennial Foundation Board.

He was a lifelong farmer raising crops, cattle and hogs and he was the state director for York County Pork Producers and member of York County Feeders Association. He spent many years as a 4-H leader, baseball and softball coach and umpire.

Burton is survived by his wife, Joan, of Utica; his son, Allan (Julie) Hoffschneider of Waco, their children, Aftan (Travis) Reinch and their children Hazel and Fox of Lincoln, Tara (Dan) Krupicka and their children Lilah and Baker of North Platte, Reesa (Jason) Vice and their children Cobin and Willa of York; his son, Scott (Jennifer) Hoffschneider of Arlington, and their children Jacob (Emilee) Hoffschneider and their children Dallas and Savannah of Minden, Ellen (Alex) Richardson and daughter Lenora of Chatsworth, Georgia, Judson Hoffschneider (fiancé Sara Marlatt) of Omaha; daughter Lori (Wayne) Bruns of Waco and their children Elle (Jared) Biffar of Seward, Caleb Bruns of Lincoln and his daughter, Roxanne of Colorado, Keziah Bruns of Waco; daughter-in-law, Sherry Hoffschneider of Utica and children Rebecca Hoffschneider of Lincoln, Rachel and James Hoffschneider both of Utica; son, Kevin (Jill) Hoffschneider of Burwell and their children Chase and Emma Hoffschneider both of Lincoln. He is also survived by his sister, Marlyce (Gerald) Seaman of Oviedo, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, HR and Bertha Blum; and his son, Todd Hoffschneider.

The funeral service was June 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waco with burial with military honors at the church cemetery.
