The Big Blue Mile Shootout is scheduled Friday and Saturday, June 3-4, in Cordova.
The matching speeds competition is a fundraiser for local volunteer fire and rescue departments to help with purchasing specialty equipment. As well, 10% of the proceeds this year will go to Project Pink'd for breast cancer awareness.
From I-80, use the Beaver Crossing exit 369 and go south to Pioneers Road then west to the event entrance. On June 3, the road will be closed from noon to 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. start time.
From 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, the cars will be lined up in downtown Cordova with all cars parading to the prospective start line for a 10 a.m. exhibition.
Breakfast will be available on Sunday. No bleachers are provided. Spectators should bring chairs or blankets.
