Betty Jane (Troyer) Miller Springer was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Shickley, to Abraham and Emma Troyer, and lived a life full of love, faith, and service.

As the seventh of 12 siblings, Betty’s nurturing spirit was alive from a young age, and it stayed with her throughout her 95 years until she was called to Heaven on Feb. 18, 2025. Betty graduated from Shickley High School, then briefly attended Hesston College before teaching at a country school in Shickley. On June 13, 1950, Betty married Dale Miller, and together they created a life rooted in love. To them, two sons and two daughters were born. They ran a dairy farm outside of Milford for a few years, later moving to town where Betty then spent the majority of her life.

After Dale's passing in 1996, she was blessed with a second marriage to Larry Springer in 2005. Their years together were filled with joy and companionship. Betty worked cleaning homes as well as the Milford Clinic for many years. She was always eager to help others in any way that she could.

Betty's loving spirit always found joy in the simple things, such as tending to her garden, canning food, watching birds, and spending time with her family playing games like Rook, Dominoes, and Hand and Foot. Betty loved cheering for Husker football, volleyball and basketball. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whether that was teaching them how to drive on the country roads or teaching them how to cook and sharing with them her favorite recipes, which included directions such as, "Add enough flour until it looks just right!"

Betty was a proud member of Beth-El Mennonite Church, volunteered at Et Cetera in Seward, enjoyed working on church sewing projects, and generously donated handmade quilts to the Mennonite Central Committee. She quietly served others, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Her acts of kindness left a mark on all who knew her.

Betty is survived by her sons, Todd Miller and Layne Miller; daughter, Amy Bellefeuille; grandchildren, Brandon Miller (Shannon), Travis Miller, Chelsie Miller (Travis), and Tera Bruegger (Josh); great-grandchildren, Owen, Isaac, and Binyam; her sister, Violet; brother-in-law, Rollie (Edna); sister-in-law, Norma; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Emma; her beloved husbands, Dale and Larry; her infant daughter, Nancy; and her siblings, Glen, Dorothy, Loretta, Jim, Harold, Les, Eunice, Mary, Ivan, and Leonard, along with many brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Betty’s life was a beautiful example of grace, kindness, and selflessness. She lived her life just as her favorite Bible verse, Micah 6:8, says - do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God. Her love and legacy will continue to live on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched. We know she will be greeting us all in Heaven with a loving, "well, hello my dear!" when the time comes.

The memorial service was Feb. 22 at the Beth - El Community Church, Milford, with burial at the Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family for a future designation.
