Eleanor Kay Roth was born Oct. 26, 1937, on a farm near Beaver Crossing in Seward County to Elmer and Gertrude (Miller) Schweitzer, the youngest of five children, and passed away suddenly July 6, 2018, as the result of an auto accident in Seward at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 10 days. As a young girl, Eleanor attended country school District 80 near Beaver Crossing. She accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at West Fairview

Mennonite Church.

On May 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Richard R. Roth, and to this union four children were born, Kirby, Kristine, Kyle and Kraig. Eleanor was active in Richard’s farming operation and also a busy housewife and mother raising their children. In her early years, Eleanor was an active and faithful member of West Fairview Mennonite Church and after she and Richard were married, she joined East Fairview Mennonite Church.

In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed quilting and making quilts for each of her grandchildren and others. For many years, she was a faithful volunteer and loved working at the Et Cetera Gift and Thrift Shop in Seward. Eleanor had a fun-loving, spunky attitude and a smile for all whom she met. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren watching them grow to be successful adults, raising their own families. Eleanor and Richard enjoyed bus tours around the United States and many trips to Branson.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Kirby and Karen Roth of Seward, Kristine and Mark Saltzman of Milford, Kyle and Gloria Roth of Seward and Kraig and Pam Roth, also of Seward; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Schweitzer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diana Schweitzer, Donna Roth, Aloha and Wayne Roth and Lorene and Earl McCullough, all of Milford; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; brothers and sister-in-law, Cleo and Arlene Schweitzer and Dean Schweitzer; sister and brother-in-law, Ardis and Delbert Boshart; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willis Roth, Harold Roth, Wilton and Arvilla Schweitzer, Fredetta Roth and Lois Schweitzer.

A funeral service was held July 9, 2018, at East Fairview Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Brad Roth and the Rev. Bill Saltzman officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, Kerwin, Tanner, Adam and Berke Roth, Brandon Stutzman, Brandon Policky, Dillon Gingerich, Kyle Essary and Dan Currie. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Kiann Stutzman, Katelin Policky, Kelsey and Charli Saltzman, Adrienne Epperson, Bailey Gingerich, Kinzi Currie, Sierra

Essary and Angel and Tiff Roth. The Loren Wissmann family accompanied by Michelle Wissmann sang “Oh Victory In Jesus” and “I Want Us to Be Together in Heaven.” The congregational hymn was “When Peace Like a River. “I Know that My Redeemer Liveth” was sung at the graveside.
