What’s in the time capsule?

Posted

Have you ever wondered what is in that time capsule on Hillcrest Drive.

Well, for starters, a Chevrolet Vega and a Kawasaki motorcycle.

According to the late Harold Davisson, “There must be 10 thousand letters addressed to children by their parents and grandparents; a case of Husker Pop, Coca Cola, Pepsi and other beverages; a scholarship fund with bank books in the capsule and the actual money in two Seward banks drawing interest.”

There are tapes, records, pictures, books, a 50-pound bag of hybrid seed corn, jars of corn, milo, wheat and other grains, a box of used bowling pins and a bowling ball, panty hose and bras, clothing, a flag that had flown over the Capitol in Washington,D.C., packages from many places and states, and, of course, fireworks.

The capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of its dedication.
