Marcella “Marcy” A. Bonertz
July 25, 1953 – July 13, 2019
Marcella Ann “Marcy” Bonertz, 65, of Swanton entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2019, at the Crete Area Medical Center. She was born July 25, 1953, in Fordyce to Stephen and Margaret (Schieffer) Wuebben. Marcy grew up on a dairy farm near Fordyce and graduated from Cedar Catholic High School. She married Gerald “Yogi” Bonertz on Sept. 22, 1984, in Fordyce. After marrying Yogi, Marcy stayed home to take care of the kids and then went to work for a day care in DeWitt. Marcy finished out her career as a secretary for Blue Valley Behavioral Health. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church of Wilber.
She will be remembered as one of a kind and for her strong love for her grandchildren. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with Yogi, cross stitching, playing cards, cooking, canning, gardening, flowers and talking with the neighbors.
Survivors include her loving husband, Gerald “Yogi” Bonertz of Swanton; son, Cody (April) Bonertz of Papillion; two daughters, Jodie (Keith) Green of Blair and Stacy (Curtis) Varouh of Omaha; special dog, Matty; three grandchildren, Barrett Bonertz, Evelyn Varouh and Lila Green; two sisters, Darlene (Dale) Svacina and DelRae (Phil) Hilfiker; brother, Robert (Linda) Wuebben; six sisters-in-law, Pat Wuebben, Sandy Uhing, Charlotte (Jerome) Pinkelman, Deb (Kenny) Richards, Donna (Duane) Bruening and Jean (Ellis) Nelson; two brothers-in-law, Chuck (Sharon) Bonertz and Dave Bonertz; and numerous other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Margaret Wuebben; daughter, Kelly Sue; brother, Francis Wuebben; brother-in-law, Andrew Uhing; and dear friends, Evelyn and Harold Rahe.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church of Wilber, with the Rev. Randall Langhorst as celebrant. Inurnment of the cremains will be at Swan Valley Cemetery near Swanton following the service. A Scriptural rosary will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the service. There will be no viewing. A register book will be available at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice.
