Numbers high for general election

Unofficial Seward County results have been posted for the 2024 General Election Nov. 5. The complete list can be found at sewardcountyne.gov/elections.

The Seward County Clerk reported 9,335 ballots cast. With 11,603 registered voters in the county, that's 80.45% who voted. Across the state, 73.9% of registered voters cast ballots.

If you knew the late Virginia Cattle, you would have noticed her signature handbags. 
The wooden purses were works of art, varnished and painted with seasonal colors or images, and hung over her arm. You might have thought they were one-of-a-kind pieces picked up on her travels to coordinate with her always-stylish clothes.
But they were more than that.

The Milford volleyball team will open state tournament play today at 1 p.m. against Pierce at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

Specialist Jonathan Spencer, MD, with Nebraska Pulmonary Specialties, and Lisa Kimsey, Respiratory Therapy Director with MHCS. will present “Every Breath Counts, Understanding Pulmonary Health” at noon Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the third level meeting room at Memorial Hospital. A light lunch is provided. RSVP was required by Nov. 1.

TOMORROW - Afternoon movie

The Seward Memorial Library will host a free movie Thursday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m., featuring a 2023 American period crime drama. Feel free to bring snacks and a drink. Visit sewardlibrary.org for more information.

TOMORROW - Line dancing

The Seward Memorial Library will host line dancing classes Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Jacki Mason will demonstrate new steps as well as dance to some old favorites. Line dancing continues through Nov. 14.

Wondering how to get through the holidays without your loved one? Consider attending a GriefShare one-time event on “Surviving the Holidays” sponsored by St. John Stephen Ministry. It will be Thursday, Nov. 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room at St. John Lutheran Church. WEEKEND - Fall play at CU

The theatre department at Concordia University will perform “Alice in Wonderland” as its fall main stage play on Nov. 8-10 and 15-17 in Weller Hall. Performances will take place each Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets to see this production cost $10 for general admission, or $5 for Concordia students and children.
