Seward’s First Impressions Working Group is rolling out new sign and trash can projects designed to give residents and visitors alike an upgraded view of the city.

Passport will guide tour of Creative District

From May to September, citizens of Seward County and beyond can tour the newly established Creative District in Seward by participating in the Seward Creative District Passport.

Around the world

Nebraska legislators advanced a bill yesterday with additional budget cuts to make up for a shortfall. They have until May 15 to pas a bill that will set the budget for the next two years.

The United States and China reached a 90-day agreement yesterday that will restart trade between the two countries. Tariffs on Chinese goods in the US will drop to 30%, with tariffs on US goods in China will drop to 10% while officials continue to negotiate.

A tension-filled national tournament clash came down to a bases-loaded sacrifice fly for senior catcher Michael Welch. His drive to center chased home Zackery Day for the walk-off run in the bottom of the ninth, pushing the Concordia University baseball team into the winner’s bracket in NAIA National Championship Opening Round action at Sherman Field in Lincoln. Welch notched three hits as the second-seeded Bulldogs clipped third-seeded University of Science and Arts (Okla.), 5-4, May 12.
Concordia will play Webber International today at 3 p.m. in the winner's bracket.

TODAY - Food distribution

The Lincoln Food Bank will distribute food from the St. John Lutheran Church fellowship hall on the second Tuesday of each month, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

TOMORROW - Woman’s club to meet

The GFWC Seward Woman’s Club will have its annual spring luncheon meeting at the Seward Civic Center in the remodeled club room on Wednesday, May 14, at 12:30 p.m. A special 125th anniversary luncheon will precede the meeting and program. A short business meeting and installation of officers will follow, with discussion on moving back into the newly remodeled facility and the club’s activities with the approaching July 4 celebration.
