Timothy Andrew Ruegg of Seward, was born April 26, 1960, to Donald G. and Ruth (Carson) Ruegg in Needles, California. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at 61 years of age.

From the age of four following his mother’s death, Tim was raised by his father and stepmother, Mary Ann (Eichelberger) Ruegg. Tim grew up in several different places across the country between Chicago and Los Angeles. He graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois, in 1978. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, in 1982. Tim also earned a Master’s Degree in Church Music from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in San Dimas, California, in 1999.

Tim was united in marriage to Peggy Ann Miller on June 19, 1982, in Ottawa, Illinois. They lived their first year of marriage in Illinois and Tim enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1983. He served as trombonist and then composer/arranger for the Strategic Air Command Band and then Heartland of America Band at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, for his entire 12 years of service. He had the honor of being deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. After his military career, he entered full-time ministry in music, serving on staff at colleges and churches in California, Oklahoma and Washington state. Since 2005, Tim has served as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Seward. Tim also worked at Walmart in Seward from 2005-2020. Tim loved the Seward community and thoroughly enjoyed his opportunities to play in and conduct the Seward Municipal Band as well as the University-Community Band.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth (Carson) Ruegg; father, Donald G. Ruegg; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Ruth Miller; brother, David L. Ruegg; sister-in-law, Deborah S. (Miller) Matthews; son, Graham Donald Ruegg and infant daughter, Madelyn Ruth Ruegg; niece, Kristine A. (Ruegg) Rourke and nephew, David Scott Ruegg.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; mother, Mary Ann Ruegg; children, Courtney Ruegg, Bethany (Tim) Semin, Eryn Ruegg, Abigail (Mick) Huntley, Jordan (Laura) Ruegg, Douglas (Cassie) Ruegg, Hannah (Jon) Ciochon, Isaac Ruegg, Kevin Ruegg, Lucas Ruegg, Felicity Ruegg, Nathaniel Ruegg, Noah Ruegg; siblings, Gary (Kevin) Ruegg, Philip (Kathy) Ruegg, Stephen (Joan) Ruegg, Susan (Wayne) Jarvis; sisters-in-law, Peggy L. Ruegg, Rhonda (Merideth) Sears; brother-in-law, Bradley Miller; grandchildren, Jane, Charlotte and Elleanor Huntley; Adelaide, Lila, Benjamin and Azmaveth Ruegg; Caleb, Ruth, Esther, Nicole and Evelyn Ruegg; Daniel, Micah, Lydia, Nathan and Anna Semin; Joannah and Samuel Ciochon; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The funeral service was Sept. 21 at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ruegg family for future designation. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
