Quiet book club chance to mingle, read

Calling all bookworms! Join Chapters Books & Gifts on the first Monday of every month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for their Quiet Book Club.
Quiet book clubs, unlike the traditional book clubs, offer space for those introverts or those who would prefer to read at their own pace, with their own book, without a structured discussion. This structure allows readers to explore genres that interest them without the pressure of a specific reading list.

Dickey named athlete of week

Trey Dickey from Doane University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Dickey, a senior from Beaver Crossing, posted the best throw in the NAIA in the weight throw on the week with his mark of 63-10.5. He currently leads the NAIA with a season-best throw of 66-5. In each of the three weeks he has competed this year, his mark from that respective meet has been the best in the NAIA for that week.

Bulldogs douse Flames

Bree Bunting and Savannah Butterfield were out front in the barrage (100-53) over the College of Saint Mary Flames on Wednesday (Jan. 22). The Bulldogs attacked the Flames with 15 steals forcing 27 turnovers in the route at Lied Fitness Center. Four Concordia University women’s basketball teammates reach double figures in the march to a century.

TODAY - Potato bake

The Lied Senior Center will host a potato bake Thursday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

TODAY - Line dancing

Line dancing with Jacki Mason will start Jan. 23 and run through March 27. This series will be Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. No partner is necessary, all ages 10 and up are welcome, and do not forget to wear comfortable shoes. Registration is not required.

TOMORROW - Milford business owner steps away

Milford A/C & Appliance Inc. will hold an open house on Friday, Jan. 24, from 8-10 a.m. There will be coffee and donuts and a time to say hello to employees and wish Bill Saltzman, longtime business owner, luck in retirement.

ONGOING - Tickets available for dinner theater

“Did Someone Say Murder?” is the feature presentation Jan. 31 and Feb. 1-2 at the Olde Glory Theatre. Friday and Saturday shows include dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the show at 7:15. Dinner tickets are $30 and must be purchased by Jan. 28.
