Area schools hosted Veterans Day programs Nov. 11, honoring those who have served and currently serve in the U.S. armed forces.
Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day and remembered the end of the war to end all wars, also known as World War I. On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, nations all over the world unite each year since 1921 in remembrance, celebration and honor of veterans.
