The Seward girls put together a good road win Jan. 4, beating Beatrice 48-36. Seward led 26-13 at halftime.

“Beatrice never seriously threatened,” Coach Tom Tvrdy said.

Senior Camryn Opfer scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Jays. Bailee Baack added eight points, four steals and three assists, in addition to playing very good defense, Tvrdy said.

“They are a tough team to beat at home,” he said of Beatrice. “This was a nice bounce-back after Wahoo.”

The Jays (8-2) will host Schuyler Friday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m., and Waverly Saturday, Jan. 12, at 4:30 p.m. Waverly and Seward are one and two, respectively, in Class B power points.

“It’s not often you see that during the season,” Tvrdy said.
