Sheryl Amelia Adler was born May 1, 1947, in York, to Loren Ernest and Betty Jean (Mika) Cain and passed away Aug. 20, 2020, in Utica, at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 19 days. Sheryl grew up in Utica and graduated from Utica High School with the Class of 1965. She then continued her education at the University of Kansas, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Southeast Community College.

Sheryl was united in marriage to Jeffrey Adler with a Baha’i marriage ceremony on May 29, 1977, in Lincoln. After their marriage, they lived in various places, including Nebraska, Kansas and Phoenix, Arizona. In 1996, they returned to Nebraska, where they resided in Seward and later moved to Utica in 2002. Sheryl has worked at Securitas Security Services USA since 2002.

Sheryl’s Baha’i faith was very important to her. She loved reading and traveling, especially on their pilgrimages to Israel and Hawaii. Sheryl was a people person, she loved being around them and she especially loved her cats. She was very active at the Utica Senior Center. Sheryl thought life was a search for truth.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Larry, Jerry and David; sister, Terry; parents-in-law, Murray and Hildreth (Michael) Adler.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her husband, Jeffrey Adler, Utica; sister, Dawn Neal and husband Tom, Kansas; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; four brothers-in-law.

A graveside service and interment was Aug. 22 at the Utica Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Adler Family for future designation. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
