Sharon “Sherry” Wanda Rigby was born Jan. 9, 1943, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Herbert and Dorothy (Brazeal) Williams, and passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont at the age of 78.

Sherry grew up in Omaha, and married Charles “Chuck” Rigby and had two daughters, Shelly and Holly. They eventually moved to Goehner in 1970. Sherry was employed with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 35 years of service. Though she fulfilled many roles with the post office, her favorite was being the Postmaster at the Goehner Post Office, where she remained until retirement.

She found her joy and love in caring for her daughters and her three granddaughters, who lovingly called her “NoNo.” She was an avid reader, loved to work in her flower garden and loved her pets. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and loyal friend to all she knew.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Shelly (Rigby) Carter, Friend, and her granddaughters, Sydney, Carly and Riley Focht.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Holli (Rigby) Focht; sister, Lenora “Lenny” Williams; and her ex-husband, “Chuck” Rigby, whom she was married for 42 years; and longtime companion Donald “Don” Freeman, who loved and cared for her, especially in her final years.

Sherry’s wishes were to have a small, private viewing prior to cremation, with her final resting place at Mound Prairie Cemetery, Goehner. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family in care of Lauber Funeral home in Milford. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.lauberfh.com.
