Seward's Christmas Festival returns Saturday

The holiday season will be in full swing in Seward Saturday.

Seward's Annual Christmas Festival returns to downtown Seward Nov. 27 with a host of festive events.

The day begins with the Reindeer Run 5k and fun run at 8 a.m. The Seward Youth Wrestling Club will host a breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Civic Center basement. The Nebraska National Guard Museum will open at 8 a.m. with a Christmas in the Military display

At 9 a.m., Chapters Books and Gifts will host a virtual story time with Santa Claus. Also beginning at 9 a.m. is Christmas trivia by Clifford Lowell at Neutral Grounds, letters to Santa at TNT Kountry Krafts & Boutique, a stuffed animal activity at the Seward Memorial Library, the GFWC Seward Women's Club Festival of Trees in the Civic Center West Fireplace room, Nebraska's Best Kettle Corn on the north side of the Courthouse and a Lego contest in the main conference room at Seward Memorial Library.

Santa arrives downtown at the north side of the courthouse at 10 a.m. Live reindeer will also be on the courthouse lawn beginning at 10 a.m. Mueri Drug will host reindeer games in front of the store at 10 a.m.

Christmas Trivia with Clifford Lowell will move to Civic Center Room 2 at 1 p.m. Farm animals will be on the Liberty House lawn at 1 p.m.

Bottle Rocket Brewing will host Christmas BINGO beginning at 2 p.m.

The Festival of Carols will kick off at the Seward Bandshell with Firehouse 5 and local churches at 3 p.m.

At 4:45 p.m., guests are invited to the tree lighting, proclamation and entertainment on the north side of the courthouse.

At 5 p.m., Red Path Gallery and Tasting Room will host Wassail.

The lighted evening Christmas parade will depart at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., Santa will be at his house on the courthouse square.

Other evening events include a food truck at Bottle Rocket beginning at 5:30 p.m., a burger night at the Seward VFW beginning at 6 p.m. and a comedy night at Bottle Rocket at 8 p.m.
