Seward teams win on field

The Nebraska Door and Window Seward Seniors went 4-2 in games last week, including a tournament at Elkhorn.

Seward started out with a 4-2 win over Platte River Rivals June 18. PRR outhit Seward 6-4, but Seward batters were hit five times and drew five walks.

Deklan Lindau was 2-4 and drove in a run, and Karson Dyer picked up an RBI. Riley Calway, Tyler Hammond and Quinton Hibbert combined for nine strikeouts on the mound.

Seward split its games June 19, losing 11-1 to Edina 1 and beating General Fire & Safety 10-7. Edina pitchers held Seward to just three singles.

In game two, the Seward bats came to life with 14 hits including a triple by Kyle Riley and doubles by Riley and Bostyn Happ, who hit two.

Riley finished the game 3-4 and drove in two runs. Hammond was 3-3 with two RBIs. Hibbert also drove in three, and Lindau added two RBIs.

Seward went 1-1 on June 20, as well, losing to Sluggers Navy 11-6 and beating FBG Facilities Services 12-7.

In the loss, Hibbert, Lindau, Riley and Happ had two hits each. Kolton Loos and Calway each hit a double, and Loos drove in two runs.

Lindau continued his hot hitting with a 2-3 game against FBG. Loos was 2-4 with three RBIs, and Cale Gardiner was 2-2 with a home run and drove in five.

The tournament ended with an 11-3 win over Edina June 21. Hibbert was 2-5 and drove in a pair for Seward. Quin Berner and Calway also had two RBIs.

Up next for Seward (9-5) was a game June 24 at Springfield and a tournament Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29. The team will play at Malcolm Wednesday, July 2.

 

Juniors

The Datavizion Seward Juniors played two games last week, beating Platte River Rivals 15-0 June 18 and Pius 6-5 June 20.

All the juniors but one had at least one hit against PRR. Blaise Schrad, Carson Delcamp, Kolten Green and Quinton Hibbert each doubled. Hibbert, Delcamp and Barrett Wiesen had three hits each, with Wiesen and Delcamp driving in three runs apiece.

Caden Hansen and Wiesen notched two hits each in the win over Pius. They each doubled, as did Landon Pelster, and drove in two runs.

Seward scored four in the third to take the lead.

The DVS juniors (3-8) were to play at Springfield June 24 and in a tournament at Fort Calhoun Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28. The team is at Malcolm Wednesday, July 2, at 5:30 p.m.
