Paul Willard VanDerslice was born March 14, 1945, in Ponoma, California to Karl and Margrette (Magnuson) VanDerslice, and passed away Jan. 22, 2023, in Seward, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Paul attended school and graduated from Ceresco High School, then went on to join the Marine Corps. Paul was united in marriage to Janice Cuda in Wahoo on March 27, 1967, and to this union, three sons were born, David, Mike and Brian. Paul began driving a truck at the age of 13 and received his first ticket at the age of 14 for improper use of a school permit. He enjoyed trucking his entire life and on Sept. 23, 1993, he started P-J Express. He continued trucking the remainder of his life, where he enjoyed working and fixing vehicles. Paul loved fishing, spending time with family and shooting pool. He enjoyed drinking his morning coffee with friends and attending truck auctions.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; son, David VanDerslice; grandson, Tyler Armknecht; siblings, Bob VanDerslice, Kenny VanDerslice, Karen Washington and Linda VanDerslice.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife, Janice VanDerslice, Seward; sons, Mike and wife, Morie VanDerslice, Seward, and Brian VanDerslice, Seward; grandsons, Colby and wife, Katelin VanDerslice and Austin VanDerslice; siblings, Andy VanDerslice, Rich VanDerslice, Dennis VanDerslice, Karl VanDerslice, Marilyn Hill and Barb VanDerslice; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 26, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps, Seward VFW Post 4755 and Seward American Legion Post 33.
