Oreall Eugene “Gene” Soucie, of Seward, was born Nov. 3, 1936, to Oreall Vitale and Isabel Catherine (Sullivan) Soucie in Lincoln.

He graduated from Sprague Martell High School in 1954. Gene served in the United States Marine Corps from Sept. 10, 1956, to Sept. 9, 1958. On May 5, 1962, Gene was united in marriage to Annamae Hajek in Crete. He worked in steel fabrication as a sheet metal worker. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Gene passed away April 14, 2021, in Lincoln, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 11 days.

He is survived by his wife, Annamae Soucie, Seward; children, Patrick (Suzanne) Soucie, Denton, Annette (Randy) Reiss, Denton, Lisa (Craig) Slepicka, Seward, Paul (Natalie) Soucie, Roanoke, Virginia, Jennifer, Seward; grandchildren, Tara Miller, Joslyn Soucie, Patrick Aaron Soucie, Kaitlin Reiss, Thomas Reiss, Zachary Reiss, Max Slepicka, Wade Slepicka, Lydia Soucie, Evelyn Soucie, Olivia; great-grandson, Wesley Miller; sister, Cathy Sullivan; brothers, Bill Soucie, Richard Soucie, Clement Soucie. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Oreall and Isabel Soucie; sister, Rita Spellman.

Mass of Christian Burial was April 19 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward with interment at Sunny Side Cemetery in Denton with full military honors.
