Milford to host pool party June 2

The Milford Swimming Pool board will host a community-wide pool party on Sunday, June 2. The pool will be open for free from 5-7.p.m. as a chance for the community to meet the lifeguards and pool board members while also showcasing some new renovations completed over the last year.

“This was something we discussed a couple months ago as a fun way to kick off the summer. As far as I know, this is the first year it has been done,” said pool board member Ashley Eicher.

The Milford Pool has employed some new lifeguards and managers for the summer, so this event was created in hopes of acquainting them with community. The board is also encouraging the community to come out and see the updated facilities including the lockers, bathrooms and slide.

“We really just want to promote the pool and invite the community to come out and utilize it more this summer season,” said Eicher.

There will also be a chipping contest fundraiser at 7.p.m. where people can attempt to chip a golf ball into rafts from outside the pool fence. Each attempt will cost $1 for a chance to win a variety of prizes including gift baskets, T-shirts, pool toys and more.

The event will also host a Gonzo Gourmand food truck, Little J’s Shaved Ice and free cookies for those in attendance. The Milford Fire Department will also be in attendance with their own spray station for those interested in getting hosed off on a warm day.
