Milford Juniors win one in week’s action

The Milford Post 171 Juniors added one win to their tally last week, rallying to defeat Utica/Beaver Crossing 8-7 June 18.

Milford lost two to South Central June 16, falling 5-4 in two innings and 17-2 in three. After the win over UBC, Milford played in a tournament at Hebron and lost to Hebron 13-0, Marysville 15-0 and Millard United JV Black 5-3.

Both Milford and UBC had eight hits in that game. Hayden Behmer and Zane Jackson had two each. Tristan Harrison drove in three runs, and Boen Schweitzer doubled and drove in two. In addition, Behmer and Zane Wittstruck each stole three bases, with Grant Torson swiping two.

The Milford bats went silent in the tournament, as Post 171 recorded three hits against Hebron, four against Marysville and four against Millard. Braden Friedli and Wittstruck each doubled against Hebron, and Wittstruck hit a triple against Marysville.

Friedli stole four bases in the loss to Millard, as well.

The Milford Juniors (4-11) are to play at Wymore June 24 and host Lincoln Lutheran Thursday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m. The team is to host the Seward reserve team Monday, June 30, for two games starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Milford Post 171 Seniors (3-7) had no games on the schedule last week. The team is to play at Wymore June 24 and host Lincoln Lutheran Thursday, June 26, at 8 p.m. The seniors will compete in a tournament at Twin River Saturday, June 27, starting at 8 a.m.
