Milford falls at Fillmore Central

The Milford football team scored first Sept. 1, but the Eagles couldn’t hold the momentum at Fillmore Central, allowing 21 second-half points in a 21-7 loss.

The Eagles scored on a 19-yard pass from Gavin Piening to Cayden Nelson. MHS held the 7-0 lead through halftime, but then Fillmore Central tied the score in the third quarter and took the lead in the fourth.

Piening finished the night 5-16 passing for 94 yards and the touchdown.

Tyce Lopez led Milford on the ground, gaining 67 yards on 23 carries.

Conner Kohout was the defensive leader, making three solo tackles and 10 assists. Chase Nitzsche added three solo tackles and nine assists.

The Eagles (0-2) will host North Bend Central Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. The Tigers are coming off a 20-14 win over Grand Island Central Catholic.
