Louis “Lou” Dart Jr. was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to Louis and Martha (Naze) Dart Sr. and passed away on May 21, 2021, in Omaha, at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 12 days.

Lou grew up in Rosiere, Wisconsin, where he attended school through the eighth grade. He then attended Luxemburg schools through the 10th grade and graduated from Green Bay East High School with the Class of 1946. Lou enlisted into the United States Air Force on July 7, 1948. He was united in marriage to Mary Anne Policky at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee. Lou served in the Air Force for 26 years, where he served in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star during his tour in Vietnam. Lou retired on July 31, 1974, as a Chief Master Sergeant. Lou and Mary Anne then purchased the bar in Bee and have operated it together ever since. He also worked as a Rural Route Mail Carrier during this time for 15 years. The couple loved dancing and playing shuffleboard. Lou enjoyed being around people and visiting with them. He loved his Green Bay Packers and skydiving. He had hoped to jump one more time on his 95th birthday to be the oldest to do so in Nebraska. Lou was a longtime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where he served as a Lector and an Acolyte.

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Mary Anne; his parents; sister, Mary Dart; daughter, Deborah Ann Odvody; brother and sister-in-law, Merril and Viola Dart; great-grandchild, Aiden Tanner; brother-in-law, Melvin Schulz; parents-in-law, Albin and Mary Policky.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his children, Pamela DeVine, Bee, Michael Dart and wife, Jess, Thayne, Wyoming, Bruce Dart and wife, Denise, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mark Dart and wife, Karyn, Gretna, Patty Imig and husband, Ken, Seward; son-in-law, Kenny Odvody, Seward; daughter, Roxy Dart and friend, Mike Abbott, St. Croix USVI; son, Brian Dart and wife, Laura, Gretna; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, LeRoy Policky and wife, Gerry, Green Valley, Arizona; sister-in-law, Bette Schulz-Pohlman, York, and a host of friends and extended family.

Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee with Rosary following. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, at the church with a graveside service and interment at the Seward Cemetery.
