LaVonne F. Orr Meyerott was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Hartington to George Heinrich Rudolph and Bessie Blanche (Delozier) Habenicht and passed away Oct. 23, 2020, in Lincoln, at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 29 days. LaVonne grew up in Hartington where she attended and graduated from Hartington High School with the Class of 1945.

On Nov. 26, 1946, LaVonne married James G. Orr in Hartington and to this union five children were born. LaVonne was a stay at home mom until the 1960s when she started working at Gateway Mall. She later began working at Goodyear for several years. In 1973, the family moved to Ruby and LaVonne began working in the kitchen at Milford Public Schools. After retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling to several places including Mexico in an RV train, Canada and Washington, D.C. One of their first and favorite adventures was traveling to Hawaii; it was her dream to travel there. James passed away in 2005 after 58 years of marriage. On April 15, 2006, LaVonne was united in marriage to Vernon Meyerott at the Seward United Methodist Church and they were married for 14 years. LaVonne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was the past president of the Seward V.F.W. Auxiliary. LaVonne was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bessie Habenicht; husbands, James G. Orr and Vernon F. Meyerott; brother and sister-in-law, Gaylord and Marge Habenicht; daughter, Lynn E. McAulay; son-in-law, Jerry G. McAulay; granddaughter, Amanda K. Schreiner.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her children, Ronald J. (Diane) Orr, Retha K. Saathoff (Darryl Fogle), Lori G. (Gary) Blum and Mary L. (Steve) Hetrick; step-son, Alan (Karen) Meyerott; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Seward United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Auxiliary Cancer Fund. Condolences may be left for the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
