LaVerne Ann Wiese, of Seward, was born July 5, 1930, to Frank and Johanna (Risse) Marksmeier in West Point.

She graduated from West Point Central Catholic High School. On May 21, 1952, LaVerne was united in marriage to Richard Wiese in West Point. LaVerne was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. LaVerne did painting and wallpapering. She also babysat many, many kids. In her free time, she enjoyed doing needlework and making quilts. She liked baking, especially pies and homemade rolls. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. LaVerne passed away July 11, 2021, in Seward, at the age of 91 years and 6 days.

She is survived by her children, Lois Dunker, Seward, Marla (Harley) Baack, Holdrege; grandchildren, Tammy (Kelly) Green, Brenda Dunker (Maurice Northington, Kristy (Travis) Dickey, Matt (Heather) Baack, Jonathan (Brittany) Baack; great-grandchildren, Kailey Meyer, Madison Green, Kolten Green, Alexis Northington, Mikayla Northington, Trey Dickey, Bennet Baack, Griffin Baack, Hadley Baack, Landon Baack, Camden Baack; sister-in-law, Diane Wiese, Central City. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Johanna Marksmeier; husband, Richard Wiese; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Marie Marksmeier; sisters and brothers-in-law, Madalen and Leroy Marksmeier, Imelda and Vernon Kluthe; brothers-in-law, Ron Wiese, Robert and Diane Hansen. 

Mass of Christian Burial was July 19 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wiese family. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
