At its Feb. 7 meeting, the Seward City Council:
• approved the mayor’s appointment of Brandon Koll of Dorchester as the city’s new water/wastewater director. Koll previously served as the wastewater superintendent for the City of Crete since 2012 and worked on the design and construction of a $12.5 million sequencing batch reactor treatment plant – a project similar to the one Seward is working toward.
• accepted an audit report from Marcy J. Luth of AMGL CPAs and Advisors, who reported the city’s finances generally are in good shape.
• approved the purchase of accounting software from Caselle Inc. for $46,496 to replace the city’s existing software, for which technical support soon will end.
• approved a special designated liquor license for the Nebraska Hop Growers Association for an event at Bottle Rocket Brewery on March 11.
• authorized a supplemental construction services agreement with Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. for the East Seward Street Improvement Project in the amount of $68,500.
• voted to forward a personal property damage claim for $3,236.39 to the city attorney and insurance company. The claim from Gene Selby, a resident on Eighth Street, alleges that a limb from a tree in the city right-of-way fell and landed on his truck.
• heard an update on the Seward Wellness Center and created a position for a wellness center executive director.
