Kenneth Timme was born to Edward and Louise (Euhus) Timme on Aug. 23, 1919, in Dodge County near Hooper.

He was baptized Sept. 15, 1919, and confirmed May 20, 1934, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Hastings. He graduated in 1937 from Holdrege High School. Started his career with JC Penney Co. on March 1, 1939, in. Enlisted in the U.S. Army on Nov. 27, 1942. Active service two years plus, discharged Nov. 2, 1945. Returned to JC Penney Co. immediately in Wahoo. Then, transferred to JC Penney Co. in Fairbury on April 1, 1946. Married to Erma I. Fox on April 17, 1949, in Daykin. Operated Timme’s Store for 26 years in Pleasant Dale. Appointed Postmaster in Pleasant Dale on Aug. 13, 1965, and retired from the Postal Service on Dec. 29, 1982. Member of the National League of Postmasters, served as state president in 1968. Received Nebraska Postmaster of the Year Award in 1970. Kenneth and Erma moved to Lincoln in September 2001.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Louise; sisters, Joyce Timme and Kathryn Mundhenke; wife, Erma; son-in-law, Douglas Novak. Survived by son, Robert (Julie), Lincoln; daughter, Vickie Novak, Omaha; grandchildren, Craig Novak, Denver, Nicholas Timme (Elizabeth), Indianapolis, Indiana, Audra Novak, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Kelsey Timme, Ames, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Kate and Daniel Timme; cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was Aug. 6 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Dale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the church. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
