JUNE 14, 2022 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS Boards of Commissioner Meetings are held each Tuesday morning in the Seward County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m., except for the first Tuesday of each month when meetings will be held at 8:30 a.m. The Board of Equalization will be meeting on June 21, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. to hold Protest Hearings. Notice of each meeting is posted on the Courthouse bulletin board and on the Commissioner’s room door. The agenda for all meetings is kept continually current and is available for public inspection at the County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours. The agenda is held open until one business day prior to the meeting for appearance before the Board. The Board has the right to modify the agenda to include items of an emergency nature only at such public meeting. CLAIMS ALLOWED JULY 19, 2022 The Seward County Board of Equalization convened on June 14, 2022 Present: Chairperson: John Culver Members: Misty Ahmic, Bob Vrbka, Ken Schmieding, Darrell Zabrocki County Clerk: Sherry Schweitzer County Assessor: Marilyn Hladky Approved minutes of May 24, 2022. Approved Assessor to send out Change of Value notices. Held Public hearing to review the tax exemption status for the Growing Place, Inc. Antonio Laravie spoke about the use of the real estate in question. Removal of tax-exempt status was approved. Held Public hearing to review the tax exemption status for the Blue Heron INIPI. Ella Durham spoke about the use of the real estate in question. Tax-exempt status was approved. Hladky gave an update of her office. Convened as the Board of Commissioners. Approved minutes of June 7, 2022. Sherry Schweitzer, County Clerk, gave an update of her office. Commissioners gave reports of their activities. Approved request that the probation cost be removed from the District Judge budget and put in the Misc. General budget. Sheri Wertz Miller, Heather Lytle, Deb Aegerter and Faith Berner from Blue Valley Community Action were present to give the annual report of the organization and request for a contribution for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023. Discussion was held on abandoned cemetery improvements. Approved use of Courthouse square for a Party in the Park event on July 16, 2022, as presented by Cassius Lee of Mercy City Church. Jonathan Jank and Roger Reamer of the Seward County Chamber were present to give the annual report and request funding for the next fiscal year. Jank and Jacob Jennings of the Seward County Chamber presented information about the Broadband Taskforce. Approved grass seeding and pavement markings for Waverly Road project. Approved leaving Child Support Incentive Funds in Fund 2500. Approved Cattle Bank to pledge additional securities. Approved Zoning Fee Report for May 2022. Approved Application for Excess Loss Reinsurance with Mid-American Benefits. Discussion was held on American Rescue Plan Act funds.
