Juan Olguin Hernandez was born May 16, 1941, in Las Cruz, Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Rudolfo and Delfina (Olguin) Hernandez and passed away Sept. 17, 2021, in Lincoln, at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 1 day.

Juan grew up and attended school in Mexico. After his education, he helped his father on the family ranch. When Juan was in his 20s, he and some of his friends made their way to Juarez, Mexico, and found some people that helped them cross the border near El Paso, Texas. The friends made their way to Omaha and later split up. Juan moved to Monte Vista, Colorado, where he worked in the potato cellars until 1969. He then worked for George Kellof, who owned a Best Western Hotel in Monte Vista, as a maintenance supervisor for many years. Juan was united in marriage to Randi Schultz on July 5, 1997, in Seward, and to this union one daughter, Marcia, was born. Juan was very determined to become a U.S. Citizen, and in 2000, his dream became a reality. The couple moved to Nebraska in 2005, where he and Randi worked for Northern Iowa Contract Services doing maintenance duties at rest areas from Gretna to Kearney. He retired in 2019 after having heart surgery. Juan enjoyed woodworking, fishing, making leather keychains, fishing, watching television and telling stories. In his younger years, he loved to dance.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one sister and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Randi, Seward; daughter, Marcia, Seward; siblings, Roberto and wife, Letcia Hernandez, Raymond Hernandez, Ortensia and husband, Micholas, Sanchez, Agatha Hernandez, Aurora Hernandez, Delfina Hernandez; parents-in-law, Gerald and Marcia Schultz, Seward; brother-in-law, Jerry and wife, Laura Schultz; sisters-in-law, Gayle and husband, Rod Richards, Lincoln, Rita and husband, Tony Pagliero, Butte, Montana; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation is from 11 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Graveside service and interment will be at the Mt.
