Joyce Joan Rucksdaeschel was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Stromsburg, to Bayard and Cynthia (Hattle) Heins and passed away April 24, 2021, in Seward, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 5 days. Joyce was baptized in December of 1935 in Clarks.

Joyce attended school and graduated from Waco High School with the Class of 1953. On Aug. 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lester Rucksdaeschel at Peace Lutheran Church, Waco. In 1957, the couple was blessed with their daughter, Patricia. Joyce worked side by side with Lester in Seward where they owned and operated the Tire Mart until December of 1993 when Lester passed away unexpectedly. Joyce continued to run the business for awhile then closed the shop. She then went to work in the bakery at Pac & Save in Seward, then later worked in the deli at Wal-Mart in York until she retired in 2013.

Joyce loved spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. Shopping was her favorite pastime. Joyce spent the last years in Ridgewood Care Center in Seward where she enjoyed playing cards and socializing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents, Bayard and Cynthia Heins; sister, Judith (Judy) Deremer; parents-in-law, William and Dora Rucksdaeschel; brother-in-law, Clifford Rucksdaeschel.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her daughter, Pat and husband, Bruce Olson, Waco; sister, Yvonne and husband, Allen Stuhr, Waco; five grandchildren, Rebecca Karmann, Cedar Rapids, Tiffanni Turman, Lincoln, Stephanni and husband, Jeff Renn, Crete, Courtni and husband, Bandit Boterf, Overland Park, Kansas, Andrew Olson, Waco; 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor Lavicky, Tanner and wife, Jessica Turman, Taynan Turman, Mitchell, Bayli and Lesli Kratochvil, Carter and Kylee Boterf, Sawyer, Sydnee and Owen Olson; great great-granddaughter, Anna Marie Turman; sister-in-law, Leona Fiestner; special friend, Lyle Zwick.

A memorial service was May 1 with inurnment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rucksdaeschel family for future designations. Condolences may be left for the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
