A back-and-forth game in the first round of the Class B state girls’ basketball tournament Feb. 28 didn’t go Seward’s way.

Seward played conference opponent Grand Island Northwest in the tournament opener and lost 58-51. The Vikings led by one at halftime.

Camryn Opfer led Seward with a double double in her final high school basketball game. She scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Kayla Luebbe scored 11 for SHS, as well.

Seward finished the season with a 20-5 record. Northwest went on to win the Class B state title, beating Crete, another Central Conference team, in the final.

Seward will graduate five seniors – Opfer, Luebbe, Bailee Baack, Rebekah Klenke and Alayna Goldsmith.
