The Seward girls are still searching for their first win of the 2020-21 season.

The first part of the Bluejays’ season is full of top-notch opponents, and this past week was no exception. Seward lost to Elkhorn North 71-32 Dec. 15 and to Norris 53-28 Dec. 18.

“Both are at the top in the state,” SHS Coach Beth Bohuslavsky said. “It was a tough week.”

Elkhorn North got out to a fast start and led 24-9 after the first quarter. Abbey Ringler scored nine and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Jays. Anna Hughes added seen rebounds, as well.

Bohuslavsky said she saw growth in the Jays between Tuesday and Friday.

“Our goal is to improve,” she said.

She said the defense held Norris’s best player to 13 points, which was encouraging. The offense also did a good job handling the Titan pressure, as well, she said. That’s been a challenge for the Bluejays, so Bohuslavsky was happy to see that improvement.

Ringler led the way with eight points and five rebounds. Tarryn Hartman added six points, and Ona Stutzman scored five and grabbed two steals.

The Bluejays (0-6) lost 58-35 to Lincoln Lutheran Dec. 22 to close the pre-Christmas schedule.
