Janet June Grossnicklaus, age 66, of Shelby, passed away Nov. 13, 2022, at her home in Shelby.

Janet was born Aug. 8, 1956, in Norfolk, to Robert D. and Agnes F. (Vyhlidal) Kloke. She attended elementary school at Sacred Heart Catholic school. The family moved to David City in 1965, where she attended St. Mary’s and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1975.

Janet worked for Hughes Brothers, Inc., and then Double Dutch Dairy. She also cooked for Meals on Wheels in Stromsburg. On Aug. 18, 1990, she was united in marriage to Tim Grossnicklaus in Seward. They made their home in rural Shelby.

Janet enjoyed staying at their cabin, fishing, collecting antiques and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband, Tim of Shelby; step-children, Kala (Brian) Greenwalt of Grand Island, Billy (Mel) Grossnicklaus of Oxford and Kylie Grossnicklaus of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren, Logan Taylor, Lucas Taylor, Bekah Taylor, Ashley, Skyler and Carson Grossnicklaus and Aldan Greenwalt; siblings, Pat (Chuck) Sanley of Seward and Ken (Ruth) Kloke of Seward; sister-in-law, Margaret Kloke of David City and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Agnes Kloke, and brother, Roger Kloke.

Memorial Mass will be Saturday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. Rosary at the church. Inurnment will be in the Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to be designated later.
