Harriet E. Klammer was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Seward, to John William and Theodora Natalia (Fiehler) Mueller and passed away Sept. 30, 2020, in Seward, at the age of 92 years, and 16 days.

Harriet was baptized that same month at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. She attended school at St. John Lutheran School through the eighth grade. In April of 1942, Harriet was confirmed to the Lord Jesus. She then attended Concordia Teachers High School and College from 1942-1949, receiving her teaching certificate in 1949. Harriet taught first and second grades at Gethsemane Lutheran School in Detroit, Michigan, from 1949-1951. On July 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Carl Mehlberg, in Seward and to this union three children were born. They were called to several churches including Christ Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois, St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Santa Barbara, California. Rev. Mehlberg died in Santa Barbara in 1966.

The family then moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where Harriet taught first grade at Guardian Lutheran School for seven years. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, in 1972. On Aug. 7, 1976, Harriet was united in marriage to Theodore Klammer in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1981, she retired and they moved to Rogers, Arkansas where Ted passed away in 1986. In 1987, she moved to Seward where she was a substitute teacher and aid at St. John Lutheran School.

On June 12, 1998, Harriet was united in marriage to Enno Klammer in Frankenmuth, Michigan. She moved to Salem, Oregon, in 1998 and back to Seward in January 2006. Harriet grew in faith and love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ until he called her home.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Carl Mehlberg (1966), Theodore Klammer (1986) and Enno Klammer (2005); son, David Mehlberg (1993); daughter, Cheryl (2018) and husband William Ladwig (2020); brothers, Reinhold Mueller, Willard Mueller, Raymond Mueller, Edgar Mueller; sisters, Bernice (Henry) Luebbe, Mildred (Bert) Baldinger, Elizabeth (Richard) Murphey.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen and husband Barry Nash; seven grandchildren, James Nash, Amalie Nash, William Nash, Hannah and husband David Newton, Samuel and wife Christina Ladwig, Jessica and husband Martin Nowak and Zachary and wife Theadora Ladwig; five great-grandchildren, Bethany Newton, Shiloh Newton, Audrey Ladwig, Cole Ladwig and Maisy Nowak; brother, John W. Mueller; and sister, Verna Wied.

A Celebration of Life is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Living Word Lutheran Church in Seward with graveside service and inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery in Seward.
