Harold Oscar Deinert, age 93, was born to Victor and Marie (Schroeder) Deinert on March 26, 1927, on the family farm northwest of Emerald and passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, in Seward. He was baptized May 1, 1927, and confirmed Aug. 10, 1941, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church west of Emerald and attended school at Lancaster County District 118 through the eighth grade.
On Nov. 22, 1953, Harold married Verna Jean Meyer at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lincoln. Harold was a lifelong farmer. He lived on the same farm for 90 years, then moved to Seward in 2016. He was a past member of the Emerald Farmers Co-op Board, Lancaster County School District 118 and five boards, Malcolm Fire Board, Lancaster County ASC and FHA boards and Camp Creek Threshers. Harold was a 67-year member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served as a church elder as well.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey; sisters, Vera Herter and Alice Schumacher.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Deinert, Seward; children and spouses, Jean and husband, Ron Petsch, Milford, Donna and husband, Brad Havener, Milford, Melvin and wife, Linda Deinert, Emerald, JoAnn and husband, Bob Boshart, Emerald; grandchildren, Justine Petsch, Cody and wife, Jamie Havener, Calvin Havener, Scott and wife, Megan Deinert, Melinda Deinert; great-grandchildren, Hudson Deinert, Jaden Schulz.
A funeral service was Dec. 24 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Dale with a graveside service and interment at St. John's Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorial contributions are suggested to the donor's choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
