Georgia Marie Hackworth was born April 11, 1928, in Saunders County, to Frank J. and Mary Margaret (Korinek) Hruza and passed away Jan. 4, 2023, in Lincoln, at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 24 days.

Georgia grew up in the Ulysses area, where she attended country school and later graduated from Ulysses High School with the Class of 1945. On May 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Wendall “Bud” Hackworth, and to this union, their son, Larry, was born. Georgia moved to Seward, where she worked off and on at Hinky Dinky for seven years, she then worked at Blomstrom’s Café by the theater. In 1955, Georgia began working for Dr. Charles Barker at his dental office. In 1958, she went to work for Dr. Harold Riggert for 32 years, until retiring on March 31, 1990. Georgia served 47 years on the Seward Housing Authority Board from April 20, 1974, until November 2021. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Georgia was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she served on the P.C.C.W. and helped serve funeral lunches from 1974 until 2014.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Elizabeth Hruza; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Vernon Russell; three brothers, Jim, Bill and Leonard and wife Juanita Hruza; and brother-in-law, Stanley Abrahamson.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Hackworth, Lincoln; grandson, Larry Wolfe, Lincoln; siblings, Patrica Hruza, Elizabeth Busch, Rose Abrahamson, Gene and wife, Barb Hruza, Bob and wife, Beth Hruza, and John and wife, Sandy Hruza; sister-in-law, Barb Hruza; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 17 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church. Arrangements by Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home.
