Gale E. Simonsen

Gale Eugene Simonsen was born Oct. 7, 1953, in York to Rex Roland and Virginia Maxine (Stallings) Simonsen and passed away May 12, 2019, in Utica at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 5 days. Gale grew up on the family farm near Utica/Beaver Crossing. He attended Centennial High School, where he graduated with the class of 1971. He then attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1977.

Gale farmed in the Utica area. He loved traveling and spending time in Colorado and California. Gale loved the outdoors including fishing, hunting, skiing and going on cruises every winter. Other enjoyments included watching the pivots run and doing crossword puzzles. Gale would help anyone in need. He was a Pioneer seed grower, and he won numerous awards in yields.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his sister, Vic Loos and brother-in-law, Doug Loos; niece, Lacey and Jeff Fauss; nephew, Levi Lehr and fiancé Genna Kiser; great-nephews, Aydin, Rex and Kafrey; extended family, Kristina and Ricky Dingle; cousins; numerous relatives and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward, with the Rev. Jon Dunbar officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
