Seward's new fluorescent street light system, turned on for the first time Sept. 29, will be expanded by 14 additional lights, according to recent action by the city council.

Softball
Seward 10, Highway 6 2; Crete 9, Seward 3; Seward 6, Aurora 5, third place in the Central Conference tournament. Seward will host the B7 subdistrict Monday, Oct. 7, and will play Schuyler at 4 p.m. The championship game is set for 7 p.m. at Plum Creek Park.
Chair yoga will be offered Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:10 p.m. at the Utica Senior Center. There is no class the third Wednesday of the month.
The Seward Farmers Market will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Seward County Fairgrounds. Check out the fresh produce and other items available.
Rob and Julie Hermann of Seward will share their list of London discoveries from half a dozen trips to the city on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Seward Memorial Library. Their list includes the unique, forgotten, surprising and timeless qualities of London.
The Seward County Historical Society Museum will host its annual car show Sunday, Oct. 6, at the museum in Goehner. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with the show going from noon to 4 p.m. The Chippewa Northwestern Railway will be giving rides in the afternoon, and all the museum buildings will be open. The show is free to attend.
The Seward VFW will host a broasted chicken supper the first Monday of every month from 5 – 7 p.m. Donations help support all of the group’s projects. The public is welcome.
