Frederick Richard Rolfsmeier was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Seward, to Fred and Alma (Sell) Rolfsmeier and passed away suddenly on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the age of 85.

As a young boy, Fred attended Seward Public Schools and graduated from Seward High School. He briefly attended a trade school, learning electronics, and then began his long participation with the National Guard. First was with the Air National Guard, then the Army National Guard, where Fred served as chaplain assistant for many years. He was always active, marching in parades, attending and participating at the Cornhusker State Games, going on daily long walks and lifting weights. He also enjoyed watching movies at movie theatres and got paid for being a movie critic and writing reviews. On Feb. 12, 1961, he was united in marriage to Diane Denham in Lincoln and to this union, two boys, Steven and Michael, were born. Fred was employed with Gooch’s Mill and also at the Kawasaki Plant. Fred was an avid reader, was a faithful man who loved his Lord and was a member of Family Life Assembly Church of Milford. 

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Diane, rural Milford; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Susan Rolfsmeier, Chadron, and Mike and Cynthia Rolfsmeier, Pullman, Washington; and three grandchildren, Katie, Danny and Chris.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers-in-law, Donald, Richard and Robert.

A private family graveside with military honors will be Friday, July 9. A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at the Family Life Assembly Church in Milford.
