Fourth of July Committee plans monthly meeting

Posted

The monthly meeting of the Seward Fourth of July Celebration Committee will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. in the West Fireplace room of the Seward Civic Center at 616 Bradford Street. The meeting is to plan and organize the 2021 Fourth of July Celebration and select honorees and committee chair. Volunteers are welcome and the meeting is open to the public.

The 2021 July 4 will honor the centennial of Hughes Brothers, Inc., founded in 1921, and the theme is “Made in America!” The committee also plans to honor the centennial of the Rivoli Theater, who was to be the honoree last year but the celebration was physically canceled and held only virtually. The theme for the Rivioli Centennial is “The Magic of Movies!” So, this year we hope to host a double celebration.

Nominations are still be sought for the Seward County Community Service Award for 2021. Names and resumes should be submitted to Clark Kolterman, 660 East Pinewood Ave., Seward, or email him at clark.kolterman@sewardschools.org. A panel will compile the nominations and a committee cross section from throughout Seward County will vote on the honoree.

Committee reports will be heard at the Jan. 21 meeting and details for the 2021 event are being planned. For more information, contact Kolterman at clark.kolterman@sewardschools.org.
