Eugene Albert Czubowicz, “Gene” or “Shorty,” of Milford, passed away Friday Sept 2, 2022, at Sunrise Country Manor at the age of 77. Gene was born in Lincoln on May 5, 1945, to Albert and Wilma (Nichols) Czubowicz.

Gene graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. Upon graduation from high school, Gene enlisted in the US Army. Gene worked for the Ruby Co-op for three years, Alpo for one year and Tamara Co-op for 19 years, after which he became a over-the-road truck driver until retiring due to health conditions. It was during his time on the semi that Gene accepted Christ as his personal Savior.

Gene attended college at night studying Fire Protection Technology and was a 40-year honorary member of the Tamora Volunteer Fire Department. Gene also was an avid model train collector.

Gene is survived by his sister, Kathleen K. Czubowicz, Lincoln; cousins, Brett and Becky Stutzman, Kansas, Gary Nichols, Dorchester, Charlene Nichols, Pennsylvania, Jean and Chuck Eggeston, Beaver Crossing, Joan and Robert McLellan, Beaver Crossing, Judy Schmersal, Seward, Hope and Roger Gaster, West Point, and Sue Nichols, Beaver Crossing.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, Chet and Dorothy Stutzman, Charles and Macie Nichols, Ervin and Zelma Nichols; cousins, Janet and James Craig, Jim Nichols, Gayle Nichols and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Milford Mennonite Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.lauberfh.com.
