Eagle volleyball falls in two

The Milford volleyball team battled hard in its two matches last week but came up short in both.

MHS lost to Fairbury 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-10 Aug. 30.

“This match showed a lot of grit from our players,” Coach Emily Restau said. “To switch the outcome, we need to minimize our errors by bettering the ball and being aggressive while still under control. “

Sarah Spahr led the team with 11 kills and six blocks. Tennacee Crumrine served six aces.

The Eagles hosted Centennial Sept. 1 and came up short 23-25, 25-14, 25-9, 25-12.

Restau said the team showed a lot of heart in digging out of an 11-3 hole in the first set.

“For the rest of the match we did not play together as a team and it showed greatly. Props to Centennial who kept their foot down,” she said.

Spahr led the Eagle attack with nine kills. Jaidyn Bell picked up 12 digs.

Milford (1-3) was to play at Fillmore Central Sept. 6 and then compete at the Malcolm Invitational Thursday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 10.

On Thursday, Milford plays Columbus Scotus at 7 p.m. and Lincoln Lutheran at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, MHS opens against Fort Calhoun at 10 a.m. and then plays Louisville at noon.
